As technology evolves more and more people are using smartphones. In past years number of smartphone users has increased exponentially, and so do the cybercrime incidents. Scammers are finding new ways to fraud with smartphones. To prevent this Telecom Regulatory Authority has come up with a solution that might be able to safeguard users from online fraud.
New TRAI Rule to Prevent Online Scams
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India or TRAI has ordered telecom operators to enforce message traceability. This was a major decision which was taken back in August, and companies have till 31st October to implement. The later deadline was extended till 31st November.
Message Traceability
By implementing this commercial OTP can be tracked if needed. The rules are the same for Jio, Airtel, Vi, and BSNL all networks. This will result in a longer waiting time for OTP (One Time Password) to deliver.
How this will help fight Scams?
Many will now have the question, How this system is going to help prevent scams? After 1st December as the new rules take effect, so scammers will need to wait longer for OTP access which may give some extra time to understand the situation.
Scammers also try to get device access by providing fake OTP but as commercial messages can be traced now it will prevent chances of this fraud more than ever.
New Right of Way Rule for Telecom Companies
Another news related to the Telecom Sector is going to change customer experience. The Central Government has made new guidelines in Right of Way (RoW) laws. This will help companies acquire land for towers more easily. Which will be helpful for nationwide infrastructure upgrades and rapid 5G expansion.
