Employee’s Provident Fund Organization ensures the financial security of employees. But if accounts do not receive any contributions for three years then it will be inactive. The EPFO has already announced that all Inactive Accounts are under preview. Till March 2024 there are 21.55 lakh inactive accounts.
Inactive EPFO Account
EPFO ensures financial security during and after retirement. For this to happen a contribution from the basic salary of the employee and employer is made to EPF. But for any reason, if there is no contributions deposited into EPF for three years then the account should be considered Inactive. Don’t worry you can reactivate EPFO Account.
Rise in Inactive EPFO accounts
There are two reasons behind EPFO account’s inactivation. One is no contribution for 3 years and another is Employee’s age hits 58. Reports show there is a huge jump in inactive EPFO number in 2018-19 only EPFO reported 6,91,000 inactive accounts.
How to Reactivate an Inactive EPFO account?
If you want to reactivate your EPFO account then follow the process mentioned below :
- Firstly go to the official website of EPFO (epfindia.gov.in)
- then log in using your UAN (Universal Account Number) and Password.
- Now after logging in Locate ‘Help Desk’ in your dashboard and click on it.
- Under Help Desk, there is an option for ‘Inoperative Account Assistance’. Click on it.
- Now provide all information asked to verify identity, like UAN.
- After submitting all necessary documents submit a request to unblock the account.
It takes 20 to 25 days to complete verification and reactivation of your account.
