But to give mobile users relief from spam Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has taken a big decision that will benefit all mobile users. A new message traceability law has been introduced. How will it protect users from spam? Let’s see in this article.

TRAI New Message Traceability Rule

TRAI has come up with a new law which is already in effect from 1st December 2024. This will allow us to find the source of any message. Before this, no one was able to find from where the promotional messages came. This will help to identify the fake callers to avoid fake calls mobile users receive and protect them from cyber fraud.

NO Delay for OTP

Previously some users were panicked thinking this rule might cause delay in getting Bank or AADHAR-related OTP. But TRAI has already clarified, that there will be no delay to receive banking or Aadhar-related OTP. So users can be worry-free to use their mobile number with new rules.

The Deadline for the New Rule

The new rule was set to be implemented in 31st October, but it was extended to 30th November 2024 as telecom companies like Jio, Airtel and Vi requested. As December starts the new rules are already in effect.

India’s one of the biggest telecom operators Bharti Airtel or Airtel has previously launched an AI powered spam detection system to prevent spam calls and customers. This service was completely free and working since 25th September 2024.
