Cyclone Fengal Live Update: Trains, Flights Cancelled Due to Heavy Rain, Chennai Waterlogged

Indian Meteorological Department has already issued a Red Alert in Tamil Nadu due to Cyclone Fenga. It is approaching coastlines, which have triggered heavy rainfalls and speedy winds over Chennai city and neighboring districts from Saturday morning. How long it will rain? Cyclone Fengal Live Update

As per RMC’s latest report, Fengal is about to make landfall near Puducherry by today Evening. The Cyclonic system has traveled at a 13Kmph rate in the past 6 hours. Fengal will cross Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coast between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram as stated by Weather Department. During this time wind speed can be 70-80 kmph, and even can hit 90kmph.

Train and Airport Services Stopped

Due to heavy rain, EMU train services in the Suburban sections have been halted or running with reduced. Chennai airport operations have also come to a halt. Airport officials already announced services are suspended til 7pm. Only public transport mode that has been infected is Chennai Metro Rail Services.

Waterlogging because of Heavy Rains

The continuous heavy rainfall has made the waterlogging situation worse. A total of 134 Spots have been identified with waterlogging problems. The Greater Chennai Corporation said they are working to solve the issues.

People Evacuated

As a Red Alert has been issued people from coastal areas are moved to safety. 65 People of the Irula Community were moved to safe houses yesterday confirmed by the officials. More people are being shifted to safer locations to avoid any mishaps.
