Chennai School Holiday: As IMD predicted Chennai is getting heavy rain due to Cyclone Fengal. Parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry have been affected. As the weather forecast says it can be more intensified as time passes. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert because of rainfall. Which led to schools announcing holidays.
Schools Announced Holidays
After IMD issued a Red Alert for Cyclonic Storm Fengal and Heavy Rainfall Chennai and Chengalpattu have declared a holiday for all schools and colleges due to heavy rain forecast on 29th November. Whereas Puducherry has declared a holiday for schools and colleges till 30th November.
Cyclone Fengal’s Status
The cyclonic storm Fengal is expected to cross the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coastline. It will pass through Karaikal and Mahabalipuram on the 30th of November morning. At the time of landfall, wind speeds can reach up to 65-75 kmph and even can reach 85kmph. After this, it will move towards the Bay of Bengal.
Impact of Cyclone Fengal: Tamil Nadu
The depression in the Bay of Bengal is expected to continue on its track. After it crosses the Tamil Nadu coastline on 30th November it is likely to move toward north northwest says IMD Report.
Heavy rainfall will affect the paddy crops in Thiruthuraipoondi. AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami said more than 1500 acres of field can be affected.
