On Friday, 210 Maoist cadres including 110 women admitted themselves in Jagdalpur, creating a historic moment. This is the state’s biggest one-day surrender. The Reserve Police Line in the Bastar district, some 300 kilometers south of Raipur, served as the venue for the event.
Rupesh, a top Naxal leader, instructed the willing rebels. AK-47 rifles, INSAS assault guns, self-loading rifles, and barrel grenade launchers were among the 153 weapons they left behind.
“Puna Margem,” a symbolic ritual, welcomed them back into society. Cadres were welcomed with open arms. Each was given a rose and a copy of the Indian Constitution.
During the mass surrender, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai is speaking at a news conference. “The government’s comprehensive Naxal eradication policy has resulted in 208 cadres from the Dandakaranya region, including senior leaders, renunciating violence,” a senior police officer remarked.
Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, referred to it as a huge success. “There are no longer any Naxals in Abujhmad or North Bastar. He appreciated everyone for rebuilding trust in the Constitution.
It was an iconic moment for Bastar, according to CM Sai. “A new period of progress and peace has begun. “Those who are coming back today will become ambassadors of peace, development, and trust,” he said.
“This step reflects the efforts of police, administration, and society,” said Arun Dev Gautam, the DGP of Chhattisgarh. Many cadres have been encouraged to adopt a decent lifestyle by discussions and progress.
The following types of weapons were deposited: 19 AK-47s, 17 SLRs, 23 INSAS, 1 INSAS LMG,.303, 36, 4 carbines, 11 BGL, 12 bore/single shot, and 41 pistols.
A significant defeat for the illegal CPI (Maoist) is this mass surrender. It provides the way for Bastar’s long-term stability and progress.
