The year 2025 has already witnessed a series of tragic accidents, and adding to the sorrow, a bus traveling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur was engulfed in a massive fire. The devastating incident claimed the lives of 21 people and left 15 others critically injured, leaving the community in shock and grief.

The incident took place near Thaiyat village, approximately 10 km from Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

The tragedy Unfolded ?

As per the report of NDTV, soon after the bus set off, smoke was seen coming from its rear, reportedly caused by a short circuit in the newly installed air-conditioning system.

The blaze spread swiftly, consuming the vehicle within minutes. Tragically, the bus had only a single exit, which got jammed during the emergency, trapping many passengers inside.

While some survivors managed to escape by breaking the windows, numerous others were unable to get out in time.

What caused the fire?

Sources says, the devastating bus fire was triggered by a short circuit in the newly installed air-conditioning system. Just 5 days ago, the non AC bus was modified into AC Bus which contained flammable materials.

The exit gate being single and jammed resulted in passengers being trapped inside , while others struggled to escape through window.

The bodies have been sent to Jodhpur for DNA sampling and identification, The Hindu. However, due to severe critical burns it is difficult to identify the injured.

To provide relief to the victims, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his condolences and announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives and ₹50,000 for the injured.
