The Sabarmati Report starring Vikrant Massey and Raashi Khanna has been released in theaters. In spite of being the talk of the town for months, it debuted as a slow opener at the box office. The movie directed by Dheeraj Sarna is based on the Godhra Kaand of Gujarat made a collection of 1.15 Crore.

Vikrant Massey’s The Sabarmati Report made a slow start of Rs 1.15 Crore on its day 1. But starting slow does not mean bad performance. As the last film by Vikrant opened with low numbers but became superhit later on. Yes 12th fail movie opening was Rs 1.10 Crore but it made more than Rs 51 Crore in box office.
Cast and Budget
The Sabarmati Report has Vikrant massey and Rashi Khanna in lead roles. It also has Riddhi Dogra, Barkha Singh, Nazneen Patni, Hella Stichlmair, Aryan Ardent, Sundip Ved, Prince Kashya, Sandeep Kumar, Rohit Ameriya, Anjali Nadig and many others. The movie is made with a budget of Rs 50 Crore.
The Story
The movie is based on real-life event of Godhara, Gujrat. The plot is the heartbreaking history of Sabarmati Express. In 2002 a train was going to Ahmedabad from Ayodhya and a tragic incident happened killing 59 Hindu Pilgrims who were returning from a religious gathering.
Movie Review
Audience has mixed review about this movie. Despite its slow opening it might have chance to became hit like 12th fail in long run. Some suggests it might end with struggling numbers at the end.
No Competition for Two Weeks
The Sabarmati Report has a major advantage of no competition as their is only Kanguva and Gladiator released this weekend. Other two films serves different audience so it can perform well in upcoming days and result in a good box office collection.
