Infinix GT 50 Pro Launches In India At Rs 69,999

Published on:

Infinix launched the GT 50 Pro in India on 27 October at Rs 69,999 for the single 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. Pre-orders are open on Flipkart and the Infinix India store, sales begin 30 October, and buyers can pick Black Abyss or Red Blaze. Each unit ships with a gaming bundle the company values at Rs 24,999.

The number worth reading twice is not on the specification sheet. Infinix’s previous gaming phone, the GT 30 Pro, went on sale here in June from Rs 24,999, with the 12GB model at Rs 26,999. The GT 50 Pro asks about 2.6 times as much, and the identical 12GB and 256GB build reached Indonesia in April at Rp 6,999,000, near USD 406 then.

What The Rs 69,999 Buys

The screen is a 6.78 inch 1.5K AMOLED panel at up to 144Hz, with 330Hz touch sampling, 4,500 nits peak brightness, 2304Hz PWM dimming and Gorilla Glass 7i. Stereo speakers carry Dolby Atmos, the frame is 8.15mm thick and the phone weighs 198g.

Inside sits MediaTek’s Dimensity 8400 Ultimate, a 4nm chip clocked to 3.25GHz, with 12GB of LPDDR5X memory and 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage. MediaTek’s frame rate converter interpolates frames to hold 144fps in Call of Duty Mobile and Mobile Legends, and an in-house N1 chip manages latency. Infinix promises three Android upgrades.

Cooling And Triggers Are The Real Pitch

The distinctive hardware is thermal. Infinix calls it HydroFlow, a micro-pump liquid loop with a 6,437 square millimetre diaphragm that moves coolant at 6.5 millilitres a minute using a piezoelectric pump. The Open-Cut Pressure-Sense GT Triggers add shoulder buttons with dual-stage sensing, four mapping points each and ten sensitivity levels.

Around that are a 6,500mAh battery with 45W wired, 30W wireless and 10W reverse wired charging, a 50MP f/1.59 main camera with optical stabilisation, an 8MP ultra-wide, a 13MP front camera and 4K 60fps video at both ends. The body is rated IP64, so it shrugs off splashes but not a dunk.

Where The Money Actually Goes

Strip out the bundle and the arithmetic shifts. Rs 69,999 less the Rs 24,999 Infinix assigns to accessories leaves roughly Rs 45,000 for the handset. A Rs 5,000 instant discount on SBI Card, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank and Yes Bank cards takes the checkout price to Rs 64,999, and launch material shows Rs 63,499 with EMI offers stacked.

Indonesia is harder to explain. There the same memory configuration was priced at Rp 6,999,000, about Rs 38,300 at April rates, and buyers could also choose 12GB with 512GB storage. India gets one memory option, two colours and a sticker close to double.

Why A Value Brand Is Climbing

Infinix is a Transsion brand, founded in April 2013 and headquartered in Hong Kong, and the group built its scale on itel and Tecno handsets in bands where volume decides the winner. That band has collapsed here. Shipments under Rs 20,000 fell 47 percent in the September quarter and the market shrank 20 percent, per Counterpoint Research.

The premium end is where the growth sits. AI-capable handsets grew 306 percent year on year in that quarter from a small base, as brands used on-device features to justify higher stickers. A gaming phone is a clean route into that spending, because it brings a reason to sell accessories that carry fatter margins.

The Risks

Rs 69,999 is not a gaming phone price in India, it is a flagship price. Buyers at that level expect a Snapdragon 8 series chip, a telephoto lens, IP68 sealing and a service network they can walk into. The Dimensity 8400 Ultimate is a capable upper mid-tier part, not the silicon usually found under a Rs 70,000 phone.

Brand perception is the second obstacle. Infinix built its Indian franchise on value, and somebody trading up from a Rs 15,000 handset is not the same buyer as one weighing this against a premium model. Resale value, never a factor Infinix had to defend, now enters the comparison.

What To Watch

Sales open on 30 October, mid festive quarter, and the first signal is how Flipkart lists the phone. If the bundle is compulsory rather than free, the real entry price is Rs 69,999 and not the Rs 63,499 headline. The second is whether the 512GB variant reaches India, as it already has elsewhere.

The wider question is whether a value brand can hold a flagship price in a market that just spent a quarter rejecting higher stickers. Infinix has built a credible gaming device. Whether Indian buyers will pay near-flagship money for it is what the December quarter shipment data will settle.
